Kenya Deepens Investment Engagement with Chinese Companies, Targeting Manufacturing and Industrial Development
Kenya is strengthening its position as a preferred destination for Chinese investment, with a renewed focus on translating longstanding bilateral relations into manufacturing, industrial development and value-added investment.
During a two-week investment mission to China, Invest Kenya, alongside senior government officials and representatives of key investment institutions, engaged Chinese investors, financial institutions, manufacturers and business organisations to explore opportunities across strategic sectors of the Kenyan economy.
The engagements covered manufacturing, agro-processing, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, energy, ICT, logistics, aviation, automotive and electric mobility, among other sectors.
A key highlight was the Kenya-China Investor Roundtable held at the Kenyan Embassy in Beijing, which brought together approximately 50 Chinese companies and representatives from various industries. The engagement, held in collaboration with the China-Africa Development Fund (CADFund) and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), provided a platform to present Kenya’s investment proposition and explore opportunities for increased Chinese investment.
Discussions focused on expanding manufacturing capacity, establishing production facilities, strengthening industrial supply chains and positioning Kenya as a strategic gateway to the East African Community, COMESA and the wider African market.
The delegation also held engagements with financial institutions, industrial groups and prospective investors, including Fangda Group, as part of efforts to deepen investment cooperation.
Kenya offers investors access to a regional market of more than 300 million people within the East African Community and a broader continental market through the African Continental Free Trade Area. Its strategic location, developed transport infrastructure, skilled workforce, renewable energy resources and established investment facilitation framework provide a competitive foundation for industrial investment.
Through Invest Kenya’s One Stop Centre, investors can access coordinated government services and support throughout the investment establishment process.
The mission reinforces Kenya’s commitment to moving beyond conventional commercial exchanges towards productive investment that creates local industries, transfers technology, develops skills and generates employment.
