Kenya Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Pharmaceutical Manufacturing at AIM2030
Invest Kenya joined H.E. President William Ruto, government officials, industry leaders and development partners during the Africa Initiative for Medical Access and Manufacturing (AIM2030) meeting held ahead of the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi.
The high-level engagement focused on accelerating Africa’s pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity, strengthening regulatory harmonisation and unlocking the continent’s industrial and healthcare potential through increased investment and collaboration.
During the meeting, leaders emphasized the importance of building resilient and self-sustaining healthcare manufacturing ecosystems capable of supporting Africa’s growing demand for medical products, innovation and supply chain resilience.
H.E. President William Ruto reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to strengthening the country’s pharmaceutical ecosystem by enhancing the capacity of the National Regulatory Authority to attain World Health Organisation (WHO) Maturity Level 3. The move is expected to reinforce global confidence in the quality, safety and efficacy of Kenyan-manufactured pharmaceutical products.
The President further noted that Kenya is positioning itself as a regional hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing, health innovation and medical supply chains serving both the domestic and wider African markets.
Kenya’s strategic geographic position, expanding domestic market, world-class logistics infrastructure and dynamic investment environment continue to strengthen the country’s attractiveness as a gateway to Eastern Africa’s fast-growing economic bloc.
The AIM2030 meeting reaffirmed the growing momentum behind Africa’s industrialisation agenda and the role of strategic partnerships in advancing healthcare manufacturing and investment across the continent.
