Invest Kenya Joins Global Leaders at the 13th Sankalp Africa Summit

This morning, Invest Kenya participated in the 13th Sankalp Africa Summit held under the theme “South–South Rising: Building Bold Futures Together,” joining leaders from across the Global South to advance practical solutions for enterprise growth, investment, and innovation.

Convened by Aavishkaar Group and Intellecap, the summit underscored the importance of stronger partnerships, technology exchange, and actionable collaboration to unlock capital and market access for African enterprises.

During a high-level plenary session, Invest Kenya CEO Mr. John Mwendwa, OGW, joined global leaders in examining how South–South cooperation can move beyond aspiration to deliver measurable enterprise growth and economic transformation. He noted that while investment execution remains country-led, strategy must increasingly be regional, positioning Kenyan enterprises not only as domestic players, but as regional anchors from inception.

Mr. Mwendwa also highlighted Invest Kenya’s strategic priorities ahead of the Kenya International Investment Conference (KIICO) 2026, including the target of securing over USD 2 billion in investment deals, strengthening investor aftercare services, expanding structured matchmaking between enterprises and investors, and accelerating the full digitization of the One-Stop Investor Centre to enhance efficiency, transparency, and investor confidence.

The session featured H.E. Dr. Adarsh Swaika, High Commissioner of India to Kenya; Ms. Juliette Keeley, Chief Impact Officer at Shell Foundation; and Ms. Carol Koech, Vice President Africa at the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet.

As the Global South continues to emerge as a new centre of economic gravity, the summit reinforced a shared message: bold ambition must now be matched with decisive execution to build resilient value chains and create scalable opportunities for African entrepreneurs.
